QLite was established in 1989, in Durban, and has grown from a small family business to one of the leading illumination consulting firms in the country. Since its inception, QLite has endeavoured to offer a high level of technical advice to designers and provide a wide selection of products to the market.

The Company has outlets in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Umhlanga, and is currently expanding its geographical footprint through strategic partnerships with other building materials merchants.

In 2006 the JSE-listed construction materials group Iliad Africa Trading acquired QLite and through it entered the South African lighting industry. This strategic acquisition enables Iliad to offer its clients a wider range of specialised construction materials and services. It also gives QLite access to Iliad’s considerable customer base and its depth of management skills and experience. Iliad is currently a certified level 6 BBBEE contributor. At QLite we are committed to contributing to a greener and more earth-friendly environment. We recognise that we have a social responsibility to provide energy efficient lighting solutions and we pride ourselves on doing so in a financially feasible and sustainable fashion. We endeavour to strike a balance between the initial capital layout of the developer and the operational cost to the tenants of the building.
